3 cups whole milk or a dairy-free alternative like coconut milk for a vegan option

4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

3 ounces liquor of choice (options include amaretto, peppermint schnapps, raspberry liqueur, coffee liqueur, cream liqueur, cinnamon liqueur, caramel liqueur, brandy, rum, whiskey, bourbon, or flavored spirits)

Instructions

1-Pour 3 cups of milk into a medium saucepan to start your base.

2-Whisk in 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of sugar until everything is well combined, creating a smooth mixture.

3-Heat the mixture over medium heat, whisking continuously, until it’s hot but not boiling, which helps keep the flavors intact.

4-Add 3 ounces of your chosen liquor to the hot cocoa, either directly in the saucepan or divided among individual mugs about 1.5 ounces per mug for two servings or 1 ounce per mug for three servings.

5-Stir gently and serve immediately to enjoy the warmth at its best.

6-Optionally, top with whipped cream and your preferred toppings for an extra touch of indulgence.
