Ingredients

– 2 frozen puff pastry sheets

– 8 oz cream cheese (at room temperature)

– 1/3 cup white granulated sugar

– 2 tsp pure vanilla extract

– 1 large egg for egg wash

– 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

– 3/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

1-Start your baking adventure: thawing the 2 frozen puff pastry sheets on the counter for 30 minutes, setting the stage for a flaky base. Next, prepare the chocolate ganache by heating 3/4 cup heavy cream and pouring it over 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips; let it sit for 1 minute and 30 seconds, then stir until smooth and allow it to cool for 2 hours until it thickens like pudding. In a bowl, beat the 8 oz cream cheese with a hand mixer for 1 minute, add 1/3 cup white granulated sugar and beat for another minute, then mix in 2 tsp pure vanilla extract to create a smooth filling.

2-On a lightly floured surface, press the seams of the pastry sheets together and cut each into 6 rectangles for a total of 12. Mix 1 large egg with 1 tsp water for an egg wash and brush it around the edges of each rectangle. Preheat your oven to 400ยฐF and line cookie sheets with parchment paper for even baking.

3-Cut a smaller rectangle inside each pastry piece without going all the way through, then spoon 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese filling into the inner area and spread it evenly. Chill one sheet in the fridge and freeze the other for 5 minutes to keep the butter cold for flakier layers. Bake one sheet at a time for 17-20 minutes until golden brown, then let it cool completely before spreading the ganache on top, leaving some cream cheese visible around the edges for a beautiful finish.
