Ingredients

– 1 package (12 rolls) Hawaiian rolls

– 1 cup blueberries (or any berries like raspberries, blackberries, or mixed berries)

– 8 large eggs

– 1 1/3 cups half and half (or substitute with 1 cup whole milk plus 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream)

– 1/2 cup white sugar

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– Powdered sugar for dusting

– Maple syrup for serving (optional)

Instructions

1- Preheat the oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease an 11ร—7 or 12ร—8 inch baking dish.

2- Cut the Hawaiian rolls into approximately 1-inch cubes using a serrated knife.

3- Layer half of the bread cubes at the bottom of the baking dish, then add half of the blueberries over the bread.

4- Add the remaining bread cubes on top followed by the remaining blueberries.

5- In a bowl, whisk together 8 large eggs, 1 1/3 cups half and half, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until combined.

6- Pour the custard mixture slowly over the layered bread and berries, gently pressing pieces to soak the liquid without squishing.

7- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

8- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is slightly jiggly.

9- Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm, optionally with maple syrup, bacon, breakfast sausage, or fresh fruit.
