Ingredients
4 pounds potatoes (russet or Yukon gold)
3 cloves garlic (optional)
1/3 cup melted salted butter
1 cup milk or cream
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Instructions
1-Peel and quarter the potatoes, then place them in a pot of cold salted water to start even cooking.
2-Add the garlic cloves if you’re using them, bring the pot to a boil, and cook uncovered for about 15 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender, then drain well.
3-Heat the milk or cream until it’s warm to keep everything hot and help the potatoes absorb it easily.
4-Add the melted butter to the drained potatoes and mash them by hand using a potato masher for that smooth texture.
5-Gradually pour in the warmed milk while mashing, adding a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency for fluffy mashed potatoes.
6-Season with salt and pepper to taste, then serve hot for the best flavor and creaminess.

๐ง Use plenty of real salted butter for creaminess and flavor.
๐ฅ Mash only by hand with a potato masher to prevent gummy texture; avoid electric mixers or food processors.
